-'Ihoah' appears to be the correct spelling of the name of one of the main characters within the ancient Hebrew texts, also known as [[Jehovah]] or [[Yahweh]]
-
-Despite our own [[transliterative alphabet]], and the many rigorous efforts of many before us, nobody can really be sure exactly how an ancient language was originally pronounced. The word 'ihoah' is a classic example, with many variants ranging from "Jihivah", "Jehovah", to "Yahweh".
-
-Even within the texts, there are minor spelling differences. FIXME show examples
-
-Based on its own internal origin story documented in Exodus 3, this name appears to stem from the root word [[ahiah]] (אהיה), and essentially means "I am"
-
-Ihoah (by any name) is conspicuously absent in Genesis chapter 1, first appearing in Genesis chapter 2 in a rather offhand reference and subsequently credited as the [[Elohim]] who created humankind. This narrative will be explored further within the [[Genesis 2]] commentary.
