yelim is built on the root word [[yel]], whose meaning is not entirely clear.
Yelim could variously mean "the Sacrificed Ones" or "the Ascended Ones".


Bearing in mind the meaning of the root word, it is possible that the 'yelim' are a group of individuals who experienced a phenomenon where they were "sacrificed" and somehow "ascended", although exactly what this describes is not entirely clear. Might it describe the stories of Enoch and Elijah who were said to be "taken up" into the sky? Jesus might also fit into this group. Abraham's son Isaac certainly would have been included in this group, had it not been for the timely appearance of a sheep that was sent up instead.

If this interpretation is correct, 'yelim' closely parallels and is likely a synonym for the [[remim]].

FIXME 'yelim' occurs only 22 times. Lets examine the instances:

1 Samuel 28:13 tells a narrative about King Saul, a psychic, members of the Alehim and Yelim, and their territory. 

Jeremiah 47:2 connects the Yelim with the [[Mim]] and the idea of territory


The first instance is in Genesis 28:12 the well-known story of "Jacob's Ladder". Traditionally this is interpreted as referring to "the angels were ascending and descending", a problematic translation to be sure, if for no other reason that two nouns are incorrectly interpreted as verbs.
