=====mim===== מימ The 'mim' (also known as "the Mayim") appear to be a group of intelligent beings somehow relating to the [[elohim]] and the [[semim]]. It is possible that the 'mim' should be considered a "super-root" of [[semim]] and [[iomim]]. The root word [[mi]] appears to refer to "water", so the literal translation of the 'mim' yields "the Water People" or "the Aquatic Ones". Early contextual evidence indicates a possible interpretation of aquatic micro-organisms. However, further contextual usage seems to indicate a gradual semantic drift over time, away from a literal meaning of the suffix and toward a general usage of 'mim' to indicate water itself rather than any aquatic lifeforms. ==== Oceans Underground ==== There is some evidence that the ancient Hebrews associated 'mim' with a watery underground realm, similar to the Sumerian concept of "the apsu", and the early mesoamerican traditions of "xibulba". Recent scientific discoveries support the idea, and have in fact revealed that there does indeed appear to be a vast network of isolated deep groundwater which up to 10 km beneath earth's surface((https://www.livescience.com/planet-earth/geology/how-much-water-is-in-earths-crust)) that has been trapped there for millions or even billions of years((https://www.livescience.com/32028-oldest-water-found-underground.html)). The volume of water is estimated to be larger than that of all the water frozen as in the snow and ice that covers Antarctica. A second, much deeper layer of water is thought to exist at a depth of around 600 km that could potentially be much larger, possibly even larger than the earths oceans.((https://scitechdaily.com/an-underground-ocean-scientists-discover-water-deep-within-earth/))((“Hydrous peridotitic fragments of Earth’s mantle 660 km discontinuity sampled by a diamond” by Tingting Gu, Martha G. Pamato, Davide Novella, Matteo Alvaro, John Fournelle, Frank E. Brenker, Wuyi Wang and Fabrizio Nestola, 26 September 2022, Nature Geoscience. DOI: 10.1038/s41561-022-01024-y)). In fact, this deep water may be the source of all Earth's surface water. "[It] may have come from within, driven to the surface by geological activity, rather than being deposited by icy comets hitting the forming planet as held by the prevailing theories."((https://www.theguardian.com/science/2014/jun/13/earth-may-have-underground-ocean-three-times-that-on-surface)) Incredibly, some of these deep aquatic environments are home to living microscopic organisms((https://www.livescience.com/25560-deep-dwelling-microbe-found.html)). Is it possible that the ancient Hebrew legends contain traces of extremely ancient body of knowledge, possibly carried through these archaic water-dwelling micro-organisms themselves? Several instances refer to the 'mim' as being clumped up into some kind of blob-like structure called a [[ned]]. This page is part of a series - see [[im]] backlinks for a dynamic list ---- LexID 4325
