=====sal===== שאל also spelled שאול Commonly know as "Sheol", 'sal' is a mysterious location mentioned throughout the ancient Hebrew texts that seems to be separate from Earth. Contextual evidence indicates that 'sal' was seen as an afterlife destination for the dead, but there is also some indication of the possibility of return. Job asks, "//What work do the Semim do in the depths of [[sal]]?//"((Job 11:8)), and marvels that only the Semim can rise from [[sal]].((Job 14:12)). Given the association of 'sal' with death, this may indicate that Job thought of the [[Semim]] as being immortal. If this is the case, where did they disappear to? Perhaps they remain in 'sal' even now. ---- LexID 7585
