From the root word [[sed]] meaning "breasts", the 'Sedim' are literally, the Breasted Ones.

The word occurs only ten times, but traditional translations tend to ignore the implications of the [[im]] suffix and treat it as a simple plural, typically assign the meaning "breasts" in most cases((Genesis 49:25, Job 3:12, Song of Solomon 8:8, Isaiah 28:9, Isaiah 32:12, Ezekiel 16:7, Hosea 9:14)), or in one case, "nursing babies"((Joel 2:16)).

Three additional instances((LexID 7708)) in Genesis 14 refer specifically to "the valley of Sedim"((traditionally misspelled as "Siddim")), whose literal meaning is "the Valley of The Breasted Ones".

Bizarrely though, in two instances((Deuteronomy 32:17 and Psalms 106:37)), the rather inexplicable  traditional translation is "[[demon]]s"

FIXME - there is a trail of evidence that suggests that 'sedim' might refer to "mammals", particularly in contrast to "trees".
