berezel
ברזל
'berezel' means “iron”. The first occurrence of the word is in Genesis 4, where a character by the name of Tubal-Cain is credited as the first worker in bronze and iron. 'berezel' is also mentioned several times in the book of Job.
Intriguingly, another word, וְיִרְאוֹן֙ 1) appears in some translations of Joshua 19:38 as “iron” and it appears to be cognate . Other translations however render this as a proper name of a city located in the territory of Naphtali.
For a thorough examination of various metals in the ancient Hebrew texts and how this ties in with the archaeological record, see metallurgy
