berit bin
'berit bin' is a phrase that appears in the context of the story of Abraham. The words berit and bin are plain enough, and mean “contract” and “knowledge” respectively.
In Genesis chapter 17:2 Ihoh arrives to make a contract with Abraham, which he calls a “contract of knowledge”. It is unclear how this contract relates to the previous agreement Ihoh made with Abraham back in chapter 12.
A few short verses later, in Genesis 17:7 the Alehim confront Abraham about this “contract of knowledge”
In Genesis 15 an amendment to the contract is made, with Ihoh granting Abraham an enormous swath of territory encompassing most of the Levant.
