Jehovah
יהוה
Although it transliterates more closely to “Jihivah”, 'Jehovah' has become a standard pronunciation. The word is also often pronounced 'Yahweh'.
Despite minor spelling differences, this name appears to be based on the root word ahyah (אהיה), and essentially means “I am”. The name is based on a conversation between Jehovah and Moses that is documented in Exodus 3.
Jehovah is conspicuously absent in Genesis chapter 1, first appearing in Genesis chapter 2 in a rather offhand reference and subsequently credited as the Elohim who created humankind. This narrative will be explored further within the Genesis 2 commentary.
ביהוה
Bihivah is the result of applying the prefix 'ba'
