teher

This is an old revision of the document!

teher

טהר

'teher' generally means “pure”. The two most common uses are with reference to animals species, and items made of gold.

In the case of gold items, “pure” can be understood to mean 'solid gold'.

Similarly in the case of the animals the meaning appears to specify purity of breeding. It is used to instruct Noah to ensure purity of bloodlines when choosing animals to bring onto the Ark.

This concept is tightly bound with that of xedeq
