tesim

תשימ

Based on the root word tes, whose meaning in the ancient Hebrew dialect is unattested, but which appears in modern Hebrew, the most likely literal meaning of 'tesim' is “The Planted Ones”

As a people group, the Tesim and their origins are discussed throughout the book of Job. Job 34 appears to refer to the Tesim being in charge of the entire territory of earth, but also speaks of a global extinction event.

Other passages appear to contradict the Tesim's ownership of Earth, as discussed further at The Territory of the Semim, however, it is not clear at what point during the overall narrative the transition of ownership may have occurred.
