ט

ט

The ancient Hebrew letter ט most likely made a sound similar to “T”.

However, the letter ת also makes a “T” sound, and occurs in the ancient Hebrew text much more frequently than ט, so we have opted to spell ת with a “t” and use a different letter for ט.

For a variety of reasons, when designing our transliterative alphabet we chose to represent ט with the Latin letter “f”. Please note that the pronunciation of “f” within this dictionary should sound similar to “t”. This is actually not hard to remember. Simply notice that “f” looks like an upside down and backwards “t”.
