ahed
ahed
אהד
'ahed' is usually translated as “one”, or in a few instances “the first”.
Oddly though, the word sometimes appears with a plural suffix, as 'ahedim'. There is something strange about the concept of multiple ones. However, this may indicate simply “more than one” or in other words “some” or perhaps “a few” without necessarily specifying an exact number.
However, the im suffix does not simply indicate a plural, rather it indicates a plural personification. Now it makes more sense, as we can see that ahedim are a people group.
