aneki
aneki
אנכי
'aneki' means “I/me”. See also ani
Interestingly, this word might be cognate with the Sumerian word “enki”, and to the later Akkadian term “anunnaki”. Both of these terms refer to the heroes of their respective legends. Typically, scholars interpret these characters as “gods” but the textual evidence for this is very weak. We have to be careful about assigning a word laden with a lot of modern cultural affect onto an ancient culture which may or may not have had any inkling of religion the way we think of it.
