'helex' is traditionally translated as “armed”. However, there are a number of instances where the traditional translations render it as “deliver”, which yields a rather more passive reading than may have been intended. Examples of this include 2 Samuel 22:20 and Psalms 6:4, both of which are ostensibly examples of being “rescued” by “the lord” but which actually involve the taking up of weapons. This mistake is a recurring theme in Psalms, occurring at least nine more times throughout the book1)
Another odd interpretation is to translate 'helex' as “take away” or “remove”. Deuteronomy 25:9-10, and Isaiah 20:2 are interesting examples of this. Analyze it.
