ihodeh
ihodeh
יהודה
'Ihodeh' is generally accepted to mean “Judah”, the name of either the land or the people living in it. It is built on the root word ihoh, the “god” of that land/people.
The earliest instances of 'ihodeh' refer to a particular character “Judah”, one of the twelve sons of Jacob, with later instances referring to Jacob's descendants, “the tribe of Judah” in particular. However, sometimes 'idoheh' appears to refer to refer to the entire nation (all twelve tribes).
