nehesim

Based on the root word nehes, the 'nehesim' are “the Bronze Ones” or “the Bronze People”.
This could conceivably indicate a group of people who were known as bronze merchants, or a group of people who were characterized by bronze-colored skin. A more imaginative interpretation may even allow for some kind of robot fashioned from bronze.
However, due to inconsistency in the meaning of the root word nehes, an alternate meaning of “The Snake People” is not out of the question.
Some authors have embraced an alternate interpretation of 'nehesim' as “the Shining Ones”. Other than the fact that bronze (like most metals) is somewhat shiny, there is no etymological basis for this interpretation.
