A 'seqel' was an ancient unit of measure of weight. It also seems to function as a verb meaning “to weigh”.
We do not know the exact value, but it is reasonable to assume it was around an once or less, since it seems to have been used for manufacturing coins for trade.
We are using “ounce” as a translation, but this is meant only as a very rough estimate. Archealogicla evidence suggest that it likely weighed closer to a half or a third of an ounce, between 10 and 15 grams.
We feel that this translation gives a sense of the semantic value but should not be used as a mathematical value.
