Strong Number
What is a Strong Number?
Strong Numbers (or Strong's Numbers) are the numbers used by James Strong (theologian) for his Concordance.
They essentially performed the same task as an index in our modern databases; a good way to reference other data: the words themselves.
Unfortunately, Mr. Strong did not have modern database tools like we do today, and he was working with English translations based on very inconsistent Latin translations, so the Strongnumber system is fraught with inconsistent renderings, and a lot of unnecessary extra entries. This are indicated in our online translation tools by red backgrounds for Strongnumber discrepancies.
Be that as it may, many scholars continue to utilize Strongnumbers in their studies, and as such, a searchable online concordance is available at https://biblehub.com/englishmans_hebrew.htm and can be compared with our own version with our improved translations available HERE
Even in cases where our Lexicon ID matches the Strongnumber for a given Hebrew spelling, you may notice pronunciation differences. Our proposed pronunciations are based on a consistent transliterative alphabet system, based on etymological evidence, and our definitions at times differ dramatically from traditional interpretations, based on our data-driven approach to etymological and contextual analysis.
