'anes' appears to mean “human”. The word is used 294 times.

The word first appears in Genesis 4:26 - Seth also he birthed son studied the characteristics human at that time profaning studying characteristics Ihoh

This verse refers to a scientific study initiated by Seth¹⁾. It appears to state that Seth shifted the focus of his study away from focusing on the characteristics of Ihoh (and the other Alehim) and toward the characteristics of humans.

It is important to note that prior to this passage, only the words adem and ais²⁾ are used to refer to people. Genesis 2-3 tells of the creation of the first people. The first people are referred to by the words adem and ais, but never by 'anes'. This indicates that something changed at the time of Seth, during his study, coinciding with the refocusing of Seth's interest.

The next few instances are also rather intriguing.

Genesis 5 mentions 'anes' several times, always in reference to human lifespan.
