What we typically interpret as curses and blessings are the positive and negative sides of a magical enchantment. However, the Hebrew word 'eror' does not differentiate in this way. Rather, eror appears to be a general enchantment whose results may turn out to be favorable or not so.
There are several other Hebrew words that should be considered together when addressing this concept.
Other words used for blessing include berek (but this is also used for curses), and occasionally asher though this usage is highly suspect.
