According to Mauro Biglino, 'gelegel' (he pronounces it 'galgal') means “a wheel that swirls”. So why is at always translated as “Gilgal” supposedly the name of a place.
Perhaps it is a place - the place of the swirling wheels.
In Ezekiel 10 it is connected mechanically with the kebed and the kerobim
