'geleyed' (aka Gilead) means “Witness Pile” as per the etymology of gel (pile) + yed (witness), and per the narrative of Genesis 31 where Jacob and Laban make a deal and state that “this pile is a witness between me and you, so this place will be known as Geleyed”
