Pronounced “shet”, 'sef' ostensibly means “stray”, as an adjective or adverb.

There are several reasons to question this interpretation however, not the least of which is the preponderance of other words that ostensibly have the same meaning: 7847, 5080, 7683, 7686, 5080, 8582

could it refer instead to a nomadic or itinerant lifestyle?

sef is the root word of sefen aka Satan.
