Pronounced “sheten”, this word appears 23 times in the ancient Hebrew codex. In some cases the word might actually refer to an antagonistic character commonly known as “Satan”, but in most instances the meaning may be closer to the root word sef meaning “stray”, as an adjective or adverb.
There are several reasons to question this interpretation however, not the least of which is the preponderance of other words that ostensibly have the same meaning: 7847, 5080, 7683, 7686, 5080, 8582
